silsThePerson,

It's possible that not all the music on your old iPhone was actually downloaded. Also, check to make sure that you don't have lossless versions of the music downloaded on your new iPhone. You can see more about this here:

Hello silsThePerson,

Just to confirm, when you see that the Apple Music is taking double the space, where are you looking? Do you subscribe to Apple Music?

Also, if you go to Settings > Music, is Sync Library enabled on each device? On this same page, what does it show for Downloaded Music for each device?

Have you tried to power off and restart each device? We know this sounds like a simple step, but sometimes a fresh restart can correct unusual behavior that pops up.

Also, you may also want to  create a backup of each iPhone, then update the software. Here's how:

This information can help offer more insight into the issue, so others in the Apple Support Communities can join in the conversation and offer further support.

Cheers!

Hi silsThePerson,

We would need to know more information. Are both iPhones running the same iOS software? Have you downloaded any new songs or music from other sources on your new device?

Go to Music and check to see if you have any duplicates. Delete them by Album or song to reduce storage size quickly.

Regards.
