Apple Studio Display disconnects from MacBook Pro every few minutes.

I have an Apple Studio Display running latest firmware (15.5 Build 19F77) and a MacBook Pro (16

M1Max) running 12.4

The display keeps disconnecting and reconnecting a second or so later. This happens every few minutes. Usually any USB devices connected to the display disconnect permanently until I physically reconnect them. FYI, I am using the Thunderbolt cable that shipped with the display.

However, when I connect a charger to the MacBook Pro, it seems to work fine. No disconnects at all. The display is supposed to charge the MacBook Pro so I shouldn't need to connect it to a charger. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

Thanks.

Same problem here connected to an M1 MBP.

I think that disconnecting from the Mac and then unplugging the display from power for a few seconds to allow it to reboot helps but the issue will return.

It could be a bug in the recent firmware release because this didn’t happen for me early on.

Numerous unrelated issues with Sleep enabled which disabling frequently fixes. Not a universal solution but a good starting point for troubleshooting.

In your case, unfortunately not, possibly a TB port/power supply slowly gone bad on the MBP. I’d schedule bring-in repair as a first step,
