Document folder loss
After upgrading to Monterey the documents folder has disappeared. I have tried various suggestions to no avail.

See if by default iCloud Drive got turned on— look for your files there.

Hey!
Do you mean the Documents folder entirely? So no links in Finder and so on?
Check that by clicking on menu bar (where icon is located) Finder –> Go –> Computer –> #your drive –> Users –> #your user folder –> (use Cmd+ Shift +. shortcut to enable hidden files view)
Also it could be iCloud related, check your prefs for sync (or by going to the iCLoud.com, login and look in Documents or iCloud Drive)
In addition to the documents folder problem, I had also noticed that icloud in Finder was greyed out. In (I think frustration) I clicked on it and lo and behold a drop down list appeared including the documents folder!!!
