Mail can't verify name or account password

"Mail can't verify name or account password"

it says "impossible de vérifier le nom ou le mot de passe du compte"

and an other window says :

"Etat des connexions : Application-specific password required: https://

support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833

(Failure)"

Anyone to help ? i need my gmail back on my computer.... Thank you in advance : )

I ended up deleting that account in mail, deleting that item in keychain, changed my password on the web and deleted my mail preferences I found. Gmail two step verification OS Mail unable to login to Gmail account with two step verification active, password not recognized. Using app password generated by Google account and then setting this first in Mail/Preferences/Edit SMTP Server list. It appears that Mail/Accounts has an issue with the app password not being recognized. Howver it recognises the Gmail account password but times out with a blank dialogue box screen with only an option to cancel. Any ideas how to resolve? Thanks

Google updated their security feature. Contact google or look at their support site on what to do.
