I purchased a $50.00!apple gift card and redeemed it on my phone. Then I went to purchase something from a game and it would not go through. What is the problem with it. I can’t purchase anything.

I purchased a $50 apple gift card. I redeemed it. Now when I am playing my games and I want to purchase in app when playing it will not let me purchase anything. I have purchased gift cards before and I have never had this problem. Can you possibly tell me how I can solve this problem?
