MacBook Air purchase advice

Should I purchase a 16GB, 1 TB MacBook Air or a 8GB, 512 GB version? My use will be limited to net surfing, emails, and regular office work like Excel, Word, PPT and not video editing, gaming purpose. What kind of hard disk drives is provided on MacBook Air?

In order to future proof your Mac, always buy the most you can afford: RAM, disk and CPU power. I've yet to meet person who several years later complained of buying too much computer power. However, complaints of too little are rather routine.


Disk type depends on year. Current models all have solid state drives that cannot be upgraded after the purchase. Same for RAM. Once bought, that's all you'll ever have in that machine.
