Do you mean Apple Music the subscription service, or the Music app that exists on macOS Catalina and later? You would normally link up HomePod to your Apple ID during setup, which would enable access to your Apple account, including your past purchases or your Apple Music or iTunes Match subscription if you have one. You can also use AirPlay to play content from your computers and devices to HomePod.
