Will shut off randomly and will only reboot by removing power cord. Will not boot using power button. Was able to boot and holding down R to run hardware diagnostics and no problems found. This is on 2017 imac27 in i7

Try resetting the SMC a few times to see if that helps.

If that does not help, then you should have the iMac checked for a bad Power Supply.

I tried this and it did not solve the issue, hope that it is only power supply. Wonder how much this will cost since unit is five years old and not sure how long the 2TB fusion drive will last.
Only way to find out for sure, is to have it checked out and go from there.
