Time machine can't backup to a drive that I am able to access within finder. I use the external drive all day but every time that time machine tries to backup it says there is an issue. The external drive is a WD my cloud drive on my network.

What type of external drive will work for the backup?
I don't know of any that don't work.
TM is designed to use a dedicated eternal drive.

Other setups may work, but often they are a problem waiting to happen.

The WD external drive worked for 2 years and just stopped working recently. What changed to stop the external drive from working? What type of external drive will work for the backup?
