How do I edit a search in Safari without my iPhone trying to control where the cursor goes or which words I’m selecting?

If I’m understanding correctly I would press and hold the spacebar and just move the cursor where i want it

Safari search box iOS 14 is driving me crazy. Pre 14, if you clicked in the search bar for safari, it would select whatever is there, and you could start typing the new thing. In 14, this only works if you have chosen Scribble. If Scribble is turned off (which I have to do), then it selects the content and then deselects it before you can type anything. I’ve searched a lot on line, and if you aren’t a developer or beta user, is there anyway to submit feedback? this isn’t the only issue with 14, but for me, it’s the worst.
