On both my MBP and MacBook Air (Monterey 12.3.1) when I delete an email it goes into a folder called Deleted Messages not Trash. Why? I have looked at mailbox behaviors in Preferences but there isn't any place I could find to make changes.
On my iPad and iPhone when I delete an email it goes into the Trash Folder and there is nothing called Deleted Messages.

I guess I wasn't clear in my original posting.
When I delete on one of the computers it goes into the trash bin but when I have deleted an email on my iPad/iPhone it goes into the trash folder on the iPad/iPhone but on the computer it says it is in the folder called Deleted Messages. Why?
Again, that's by design. Right click any folder and choose "Erase deleted items" to "Take out" the mail trash. You get a second chance on deleted emails in case you change your mind.
That's normal. Deleted files, folders and apps go into the Trash bin on a Mac.
Don't confuse a function with a name.
Odd, I have no "deleted messages" only a trash folder.
