The suggested solutions on that page don't work and I cannot find any way to make the annoying, button-blocking icon go away.
iPad Pro 12.9-inch, 3rd Gen, Wi-Fi
The icon at bottom right of the screen allows you to easily expose the on-screen keyboard for input of special characters that cannot be accessed from the physical keyboard (e.g. emoji) - and access voice controls.
The icons cannot be relocated, but can be disabled from iPad settings:
Settings > General > Keyboard > [All Keyboards] Shortcuts - set to OFF
