Keyboard issues

My 2016 macbook pro has an issue where after putting it to sleep overnight, the keyboard will become non responsive when i try and use it again. I will also note that when this issue occurs, the back light on the keyboard doesn't work but when it is operational the back light is functional. After resetting the SMC numerous times, the keyboard functionality returns and works as normal until after a certain period it completely stops working again.
