How is streaming quality determined on the music.apple.com site?

I would like to ensure that Lossless is selected when using the Apple Music site but there is no streaming quality selection available in Profile > Settings.

Lossless on Apple music I have songs downloaded in high quality, but set streaming quality to lossless. But these songs play in the downloaded quality even with an internet connection. Any way to fix this? Songs I haven't downloaded stream in lossless without a problem

Lossless audio with Apple Music is not supported on Windows or in a browser.
