"Display" icon has disappeared from Control Panel

I have somehow lost my Display icon in the System Preferences Control Panel on my MacBook Air. I had clicked on it to deal with a change that had occurred in a display of a screen that I thought i needed to fix by going into System Preferences and checking my Display options. Now the icon has disappeared, though it does appear in the task bar across the top of my screen. Does anyone have a suggestion for how I get that Display icon back into the Control Panel? Does it matter?--Shelley S.

Restart. If that doesn't fix it, restart in safe mode, let it sit for a few minutes and then restart normally and retest.
