How do I update my iPad from 12.8 to 14.8 when the update is not listed
If you attempt to update your device and Software Updates report that it is up to date, then it is probable that the device will not support it. Your profile shows an iPad Air, but no other information. If you have an iPad Air 1st Generation, then it will not support an iOS higher than 12.5.4.
Check the back of the iPad for an A#### number. If it is A1474, A1475, or A1476, then it is a 1st Gen and cannot be updated.

There isn't a 12.8.
If your unit is running 12.4.2 through 12.5.5, it's not capable of 13 or above. Otherwise, you can only update to versions displayed in the Software Update function, or a beta if you're registered.
