Troubleshooting Office 2011 and Catalina:

A. Incompatibly being the Culprit:

If this is a 32-bit version, then it will not install on Catalina. So, you'd have to uninstall it, using ht e proper uninstaller. Contact Microsoft, asking them which uninstaller is the correct one to use.

B. So, Contact Microsoft:

They are the developer of the software. Ask them which uninstaller to use. Once uninstalled, restart your Mac. Start Here:  Microsoft Contact Us Virtual Agent - Microsoft Support. Perform a chat session with Microsoft using a computer, as it would be more user-friendly doing so

At this point, you would not be able to fresh install Office 2011 for Mac on any Apple operating system because Microsoft has disabled their license servers for retired application products. You could continue to use an existing, licensed installation of Office 2011 for Mac on older installations of macOS.

Your best bet moving forward with MS Office on Catalina is to either choose a Microsoft 365 subscription plan or look for a deal on Office 2021 for Mac home and student or home and business — single purchase. I just picked up Office 2021 for Mac Home and Business for $50, though not directly from Microsoft.

Alternatively, you could look at the SoftMaker Office 2021 package which currently is supported on macOS 10.13 thru Monterey, Windows, or Linux. They offer a free trial, and this product, unlike MS Office will not stop providing updates when Apple drops support for Catalina this (2022) Fall.
