Time Machine won't allow back up of external drive

I have an external drive I want to add to my Time Machine back up.

When I go to options to deselect this drive from the excluded list, it's greyed out. Time Machine will not allow me to remove it from the excluded list.

Any thoughts on why that's happening and how to remedy?
