iMac no volume
hi i have a iMac but it says no volume yet when it starts up it has start up noise.
i have tried to update software etc but no joy how do i get the volume back

If there is something plugged into the headphone output port, the iMac will chime using the internal speakers then switch to using the headphone output port.
- Check and unplug anything that is plugged into the headphone output port.
- Try plugging in a set of headphones or buds to see if those are working.
- If nothing is plugged into or broken off in the headphone output port, then it may have a stuck micro switch or is broken and needs to be serviced.
