iMac no volume

hi i have a iMac but it says no volume yet when it starts up it has start up noise.


i have tried to update software etc but no joy how do i get the volume back

iMac Line (2012 and Later)

If there is something plugged into the headphone output port, the iMac will chime using the internal speakers then switch to using the headphone output port.


  1. Check and unplug anything that is plugged into the headphone output port.
  2. Try plugging in a set of headphones or buds to see if those are working.
  3. If nothing is plugged into or broken off in the headphone output port, then it may have a stuck micro switch or is broken and needs to be serviced.
