My contacts are not backing up on iCloud.

My contacts are not backing up on iCloud. They haven't for a long time. I have followed all the suggestions on Apple help to no avail. I have approx 850 contacts on my iPhone 13, none of them very long. Contacts are also not syncing to my iPad. I am so afraid that I will lose my contacts on my iPhone.

Anything sync'd to your iCloud account, like Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, Photos, are not backed up to iCloud backup by design.

I would go to icloud.com on a computer browser, go to contacts, and export all contacts as a vcf file.
