Yes, it is possible to have a different remote.

- You may use a universal remote.

- You may use the software remote on an iPhone or iPad.

- You may try one of the unofficial, but dedicated remotes as sold through e.g. Amazon.

- Select TV providers may offer their own version for Apple TV remote alternative (Salt, Spectrum).
