Will Apple Advise on iOS 15.4 Battery Drain?

Given the number of reports I’ve read in this community, it is clear that the update from 15.3.1 to 15.4 has caused some issues far beyond the traditional recalibration and indexing period.

I just finished a call with Apple Support where they did a diagnostic and could find no issue. To confirm I’ve done all the basic steps Apple suggests.

I really wish they would let you roll back one update. I want 15.3.1 back. Can any iOS 15.4 users confirm to me that after a few days things levelled out?

Also, Apple, can we get some acknowledgment please? My brand new iPhone 13 at 100% battery now averages my iPhone XR at 80% in battery life.

Thank you for once again responding and for offering me a list of similar incidents in the past. As I stated in my posts to other users who were reporting issues, I spoke with Apple Support and eventually a supervisor and then Engineering. They confirmed irregularities after iOS 15.4 but obviously could not provide any details as to when a fix would come or confirm that the battery was an issue. That being said, I’ll just leave a picture here since you so kindly provided me links to support your reply. Thanks again.

I started by saying that battery issues occur to a few phones with all versions after an iOS update, and the responses implied somehow that iOS 15.4 was “different” and was an issue that hadn’t happened before. So to back up my statement here are some threads on battery issues with previous versions (far from all of the relevant threads, but a reasonable sampling):

The bottom line is that it isn’t a problem with the specific version, and, if you want it resolved, you need to troubleshoot why your phone has this problem when 99+% of over 1 billion iPhones do not.

Given the number of reports after every version of iOS that was ever released since 2007, when the first update was released in September, 2007, every version has caused some issues. There was only one instance when the issue was widespread; that was 8 years ago, and resulted in 13,000 posts about it (at a time when there were only 1/10 the number of iPhones in use). When you start to approach 130,000 posts you can say it is “clear” about the update. Until then just treat it as something that requires troubleshooting.

FWIW, I have not noticed any change in battery drain with iOS 15.4. If anything, my battery life is better after the update.

I appreciate the response. I’m knowledgeable enough to compare my battery usage statistics according to how I personally use my phone. It charts a clear picture of the same apps being used at the same times —I am a creature of habit, but with a steady decline in battery life across the same usage/time.

This is in addition to the iOS Safari bugs which cause screen flicker and audio issues of occasional annoyance. Nevertheless, I just finished a call with Apple Support who have confirmed that there is an open case with the team about this.
