VLOOKUP

Have a new MacBook Pro with the native Numbers 11.2 in OS Monterey. Vlookup simply does not work. Am very familiar with the formula, and the syntax is identical to Vlookup in Excel. Do I need a Numbers add-in to get this functionality? I've tried YouTube and older postings for Numbers Lookup.
