Apple TV booting Sonos off Airplay

Hi all,

Seeking some advice. We have flawlessly used Airplay via Apple TV to Sonos One for some time now, but in the last fortnight, it's stopped working.

I've spoken with Sonos and ruled everything out from the speaker set-up, Sonos still plays from my iPhone and MacBook without issue so it's only Apple TV that is the problem.

I've re-set, re-checked and done everything I can think of and read of, still no love. Our internet set up or house set up has not changed. It just stopped working suddenly.

Does anyone have any idea what could be happening?

Airplay on Apple TV can see Sonos but when I select the speakers or even one single speaker it allows me to check the box, then reverts back to the TV speakers.

Help is greatly appreciated!

Interesting.....thanks bgmeek - how long ago did you see this behaviour pop up? (I don't have AirPods FYI - I wish, they just don't fit in my ears)

I've updated and rebooted and restarted again, alas, the same issue :(

It's just so odd (and so annoying) that AirPlay sees the speakers, allows you to select them, then boots them off.

I tried with my Sonos Ones and didn't experience any issue. Though for regular use I have a Sonos surround system, with the Soundbar connected directly via ARC. You may want to contact Apple support to see if they can offer any further troubleshooting specifically for the Apple TV.

I seem to recall seeing similar behavior once while bouncing between AirPods and AirPlay speakers, but the issue went away after a "cold boot" (unplug for 30 seconds or so).

I suggest installing the new 15.4 tvOS update and after that is complete, restart it again (for good measure :-). Couldn't hurt to reboot your WiFi hub too.
