Where/How to find "Home/Music"?

Change where your music files are stored on Mac

By default, your music is stored here: Home/Music

I am ignorant how/where to find Home/Music on 2021 iMac using Monterey 12.2.1

iMac Line (2012 and Later)

The new storage site I want to use is an external HD which is currently labelled USB 3.0
(and is where I moved Photos off iMac to this new storage site).

if you keep your music inside your home folder's "music" folder, all you need to do is transfer them to a folder on your external HD in the same "drag and drop" fashion as you did with your photos.

it appears as if you could use some direction with your mac. a good place to start would be by clicking on this page >> Mac Tips for Windows users. i know it says "for windows users", but it is a good resource for novice mac users too. and since you need help with finding your home folder, please see the link in the "browse for files" header.

I'm at the "last" step:

Home/Music...

But what is the phraseology that is to be typed in?

I am using Apple's page Change where your music files are stored on Mac - Apple Support

There is more info/data but I'm too overloaded/scatterbrained to do "it" right now.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

I think I am close to solving my task!

What is my user folder? I think my user name is "pwwxxx" which appears at far right of top/horizontal menu bar in Finder and Safari.

There is no House icon that I see anywhere associated with pwwxxx in Finder sidebar -- I don't see a sidebar in Finder (other than e.g. Sleep, Restart, Shutdown, Empty Trash, System Preference etc.)

OK I do see pwwxxxx + house icon in "Finder Preferences" as an"item in Sidebar" with a checkmark beside it.

Clicking on this item simply removes or restores the checkmark and changes nothing displayed or not displayed that I detect.

I don't see any method to paste this line... ~/Music

[N.B. This thread is being written on MBP running Catalina -- not my new iMac running Monterey, which I am trying to learn.]

I feel this is correct and will solve my problem [!?]

I am going to post here a Pages document that I think is congruent and "solves" my issues (?):

iMac>Music>Preferences>Files:

Music Media folder location:

/Machintosh HD/Users/my user name/Music/Music/Media

[Change] [Reset]

(checked) Keep Music Media folder organized

Places files into album and artist folders, and names the files based on the disc number, track number, and the song title.

(checked) Copy files to Music Media folder when adding to library

[Import Settings…]Cancel] [OK]

USB 3.0 {external hd where I want to store Music (& Photos)} =

now contains 2 files:

(icon) Photo Booth Library 8 bytes  Photos Booth Library

(icon) Photos Library.photoslibrary 1.37 GB Photos Library

APPLE WEBPAGE:

… Change where imported files are stored

1. In the Music app on your Mac [my new iMac], choose Music > Preferences, then click Files.

2. Click Change, then select a new location for your files.

This is where I am stopped!*

3. From now on, new songs and other items you import {link} are stored in the new location.  Songs you’ve already imported stay in their current location.

To go back to storing imported files in the default folder, choose Music > Preferences, click Files, then click Reset.

*? I chose  USB 3.0  ??? —> [right ?]

? The End  = success ?

The above failed:

When I click Change, it takes me to a window Media containing a folder labelled Automatically Add to Music which is empty.

When I click Open it takes me back to the Files Preferences and I choose Reset --> nothing happens,

I don't see how to enter the new location USB 3.0.

Nothing new is changed/added; USB 3.0 remains the same with the 2 Photos files -- nothing about Music.

I don't see how to break out of this vicious circle. HELP, please.
