Hello,
I've never experienced anything like this before - the Apple Music app starts automatically AND starts playing upon waking my new 14" M1 Pro MBP from sleep. (macOS Monterey)
Any ideas on why this is happening and how to stop it?

Remove This Login Items:
See if Music is a Login Item. If so, remove is as such and then restart the Mac, seeing if this no longer occurs. Go Here: Change Users & Groups Login Items Preferences on Mac - Apple Support
Thanks TheLittles. I should have mentioned in my original post that I already checked that setting in System Preferences. Music was not set to open on login.
