Best bet is to research promo offers for your new phone. You won't get much for your iphone 6 given its age. Best I could get for my 6S plus was $20 so decided to keep it as backup in case something happens to new phone. Verizon had BOGO promo in Feb. so we switched carriers & got (2) iphone 13 Pros; first was free ($1000 credit), second phone $100 off (credit). Terms & conditions vary so read the fine print!
