How can I take a file created on an Apple computer using ipages and then save it such that I can open it on a Microsoft windows 10 computer??
do I have to save ipages file with a different extension?
I want to save it on a stick and mail it to another person who has windows 10

Mount the USB stick on your Desktop. It must be formatted FAT32 or exFAT because macOS cannot write to NTFS formatted drives without additional cost third-party tools.
Open your Pages document and from the File menu > Export To > Word… and click Next. On the Save panel, the file will already have the extension .docx. Choose the mounted USB stick as your destination and click Save. Now, you can open that Word document on any application on Windows 10 that supports it.
Pages does not embed fonts, and you may have used fonts on macOS in your Pages document that may not be present on Windows 10. The process of generating the Word document from Pages is a translation and the document when opened by Word on Windows 10 may not appear the same as your original Pages document.

you would need to convert into pages so you can open it in Word, sorry I don't have the exact steps to do it.
Export to an RTF file.
