If you have one airpod and the other one is in the case and you can’t find the one in the case how do you locate the one that’s in the case?

You have to go physically looking for it. Neither the AirPod Charging case, nor the AirPod inside, can be found via Find My.

Lost one airpod in its case i have one airpod (now out of charge) I’ve lost the other one which is in the case somewhere. The find my airpod shows me the one I have , how do I make it find the second one which is in the case? (I’ve read you can force the map to update for second pod by putting the first one away in case - which obviously I don’t have as it’s missing with the other one inside it) thanks
