random contacts appearing and not syncing

i have random contacts appearing (people that i dont know), and when i delete them on my mac (and through the icloud website and contacts) they dont sync on my phone. i have turned on contact syncing on both devices. i used to use the same apple id as my mum, but now i use my own. im pretty sure that those random contacts are from my mum's phone as well.
