My trackpad is no longer working on my MacBook Air. I have already reset the SMC and that helped for 5 mins…

When I opened my MacBook Air today, my trackpad was not responsive. I googled how to fix it and was advised to reset the SMC. That worked during initial startup and then 5 mins later, my trackpad stopped working again.

I even tried using my keyboard to try and reset the trackpad with no luck. My laptop also says it’s up to date.
