Can my Apple Watch count my steps?

Yes it measures every step you take,tap on the activity app and scroll down;

I have a iWatch 4. I cannot tell what will work on my watch compared to what is written up on apple's website. Where can I get info on what works on my current watch? Also, what does the Activity App look like?
