Chrome browser text on MacBook Pro

With my new MacBook Pro 2022 I'm getting weird text instead of English when I open the browser. I have deleted and re-installed the browser but no change!

Has anyone any idea what's causing this?

macOS Font/Language bug? Hi everyone! I have been having a problem with macOS since today. In some apps (like StreamLabs OBS and Opera GX) it shows a weird font/language on some of the text (not all of it), and usually when I click on it, it shows the normal text that I typed in. English is GONE on Safari Why did the language get messed up on Safari after installing Sonoma 14.0 on my MacBook Air? I have NO idea what language it even is! I tried looking for the "drop down preference" in menu, but it is not there. Everything in the General settings says English. I am baffled!

English character & number displays bold for some websites in Chrome/Edge after Big Sur upgrade take this web page for example: https://www.yuque.com/yuque/support_en/bfesg5 in Safari it displays: in Chrome / Edge it displays: there is no such problem before Big Sur upgrade.

Try going to Font Book app and doing File > Restore Standard Fonts

Also in Chrome preferences Appearance Customize Fonts try changing the fonts.

Thanks Tom - restoring the Font Book defaults seems to have solved it
