I am getting the following error message with addresses that I either type or copy and paste in Mail. This , does not happen if I click on an email and press reply. I cannot trust Mail client to send sensitive information unless this gets fixed. Is there a solution? (Mac Monterey 12.0.1)

How are you copying the addresses around, and (if there’s a pattern) from which app?
Have you tried copying around other addresses from, say, TextEdit, to see if the problem arises there, too?
