Hi, not sure if you've found the fix yet, but I just had the same issue and found the fix.

  1. click apple logo in the top left, system preferences
  2. Click sound, and then output
  3. Select your pair of AirPods from the menu
  4. Below the menu you'll see a balance slider - this will be set to left
  5. Just drag it to the middle - should be fixed :)
