There are multiple methods to transfer photos, however if you have iCloud turned on both the Mac and iPhone they will sync automatically. No need to transfer them. If you are unfamiliar with iCloud please read Introduction to iCloud - Apple Support

Yes but I want to transfer photos 'off ' of my iphone to my imac rather than sync to both devices.
