OS X El Capitan 10.11.6

I bought a second hand macbook Air with OS X El Capitain 10.11.6 and want to update the OSX but i don't find a way to install the 10.12 Sierra (it is apparently the first step to install further updates???

Anyone can help me?

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and if your MacBook Air model is recent enough, click on High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur, or Monterey.

Catalina and newer won't run 32-bit software; download and use Go64 to scan for it. To check other programs, click here and look them up.

If you're looking in your web browser, check for a button to view it in the Mac App Store, or change the https at the beginning of the page address to macappstore.

If you're looking in the Mac App Store, click on Download.
