how do i hide my documents from view in Books MacOS 11.6

my pdfs that are on iCloud are showing up all over the place in Books

i can just view Books in the library, but not on my iPad. how can i sequester them or better yet keep them out of Books to begin with.

Removing PDFs in Books and iCloud I rarely open the Books app, but today I did. It now has about every pdf I've ever opened showing up in it, which was never the case before. In the List view they all show up as being added today. And then right after that I got a notice that I needed to buy more space in iCloud since I was running out. I would like to remove these pdfs from iCloud, but when I tried it said that it would delete them from my device which I do not want to happen. How can I remove them from iCloud only (and also have them not show up in Books), but leave them alone on my Mac? Also how can I keep pdfs that I open from going into iCloud and Books in the first place so I don't have to go delete them all the time?

Cannot turn off Books iCloud syncing. I use Books on my iMac to store PDFs and sync them to my iPad and iPhone. It annoys me every time there's a major OSX update iCloud syncing is automatically turned on. I have to go through the same routine of recovering all my PDFs off iCloud and turning it off to rebuilt my Books. However now I have found with Sonoma I am not able to turn off Books in my iMac's iCloud Drive settings. When I turn it off, close setting then reopen the setting is turned on again. Not only do I not want to pay for more iCloud storage, I have a lot of manuals in there, but I need some of these PDFs synced to my iPad since I do not always have a network connection. Any way to get my Books iCloud sync setting to turn off and stay off? Or an alternate way to sync and view PDFs without using iCloud.

Remove downloaded books without deleting from icloud I use Books to store / organise a large number of pdfs. I use iCloud for Books to avoid using up space on my devices. On my iPhone or iPad I can remove a download of a pdf in Books without deleting it from iCloud, but I can't work out how to do this on my MacBook - the only option I get is to delete everywhere. Any idea how I can remove the download without deleting the pdf from iCloud? Thanks

thanks, Luis.

my problem is that i do not have an accurate understanding of the interplay of iCloud and my devices.

when i changed to the Books collection (which i think ought to be the top choice sin it is an app called "Books" but never mind)

it also changed on my iPad Books app.

i appreciate your input.

If I understand correctly, you want to see only Books and not PDF, on the iPad, is that it?

There is a collection called "Books". If you select that, it won't show the PDF files.
