iPhone 12 Mini front screen cracked for no apparent reason

I have an 8 months old iphone 12 mini. During its lifetime there haven't been any significant drop or physical impact. Today, when it is on the desk the screen just cracked itself for no reason. The crack is on the upper side of the screen left to the headphone hole. The edges are not damaged, the screen protector is not damaged, original apple silicon case is also not damaged. There is no sign of external force. Origin of the crack is small, but the entire screen is now full of crack lines.

The phone showed no hardware warnings, and it works fine even after the crack. The FaceID does not work either due to the cracks or there is a hardware issue which maybe could have caused the crack.

What could be done in this situation? Is there anyone that had the same issue and replaced the glass for free?

iPhone 12 mini, iOS 15

It's possible, but fairly rare for there to be some sort of point defect that results in an extremely clean crack without any signs of being dropped. Do you have a photo of it?

It would be a judgement call. Otherwise you can either live with it until it starts acting up (seen that before with an iPad) or get it replaced.
