I have pressed and held the side button on my IWatch 6, but it does not turn off. what else can I do? thank you

Press the side button until you see this screen;
Then slide to the right to turn the watch off.
Press the side button until you see this screen;
Then slide to the right to turn the watch off.
Do this;
Then try again.
