searching for updates times out

Hello,

on my MacBook Pro 2016, running on Big Sur, I could not install Monterey, because the "searching for update" dialog did not come to an end. It seems to search forever (I didn't touch it for 30 min.).

As solution I booted the Mac in "safe mode" to try the update from there and this seems to work.

Does anyone else have this problem, and what is the reason for the software updater not to respond?
