I have a 2014 Mac mini. Trying to connect it to a 2010 24” apple LED Cinema Display. I have a DisplayPort to mini display port adapter. Can I use it to connect the two or what adapters do I need?

it should plug into one of the 2014 Mac Mini's Thunderbolt 2/Mini DisplayPort without an adapter.
