Moving video in small increments in FCPX

In Final Cut Pro X, is there a way to move video clips in sample increments or does this only work for audio?

Video can only be moved in whole frame increments, not fractions of a frame. Audio can be moved more precisely.

Switching video clips with gaps quickly on the time line This is going to be a question that I hope someone can answer which will speed up my editing. I make short, less than 60 second videos. The project starts with the entire audio file created which I'll drop into the timeline. Next, I hit option + w and stretch the gap the length of the audio file, placing the audio file under it. Now I'll find video and image files that match the audio and I'll put each on top of the gap until I have the entire audio file matching a video/image. I'll cut the gap to fit each video/image length, and then I'll put the cut gap over and drop down the new video/image. Then it's a matter of moving the video file down and dragging my audio over from the gapped clip. My hope is that there's a way to switch a gap that's been cut the width of a video/image file, and then swap it on the timeline in one quick step. I've included an image that shows this process: a gap and a video file that I want to swap. If there's a better way to do this or a quick switch which will automatically move my audio from the gap to the video file, switching the gap and video/image in the process, I'd be very happy to know it. FINAL CUT PRO X: Disconnecting video and audio in the project. Hello, I have a video clip on the video line without audio and a .wav on the audio one that I would like to synch up. How do I forego the magnetic storyline or disconnect the two clips so I can simply move them around? They were NOT created together; two separate files. Doing the synching by ear/eye. L-Cut J-Cut Detach and Attach audio In my editing workflow I juse L-cuts and J-cuts Im detaching the audio froma clip and move the videoclip slightly. This gives me a cut that isn't noticable for the viewer. However I'm finding myself in a position where I need to adjust my first cut. So I'm in need to move clips around the timeline and like to re-Attach the audio back on to the videoclip so I can drag it around and move the place of the cut. Q1: Is there a way to do this? Q2: Is there an other workflow that will simply make L- and J-cuts and later move clips around in a second cut after a feedbackround from the client?

Thanks for your response. Will it be noticeable if audio is out of sync by a frame? I'm guessing not at 30 FPS. It's for a short cut away shot of a piano player and I'm using different takes.

No. Most viewers don’t even notice a black frame of video. Sync is even more difficult to perceive.
