Create a Shortcut or Application.

There is no direct shortcut for this. So, try creating a shortcut, or creating an application that would do so.

I used "import" through iPhoto to read picture-files on an external SD card that a hand-held camera stores it pictures on. If simply getting an image from an external drive into iPhoto is not the issue, I have no other idea.
