Unable to join wifi

I have this problem on two phones - iphone6 and iphone11. When I select a wifi network from the list of available networks, I get dialog box with "unable to join xyz wifi" even before being asked for a password. Using Verizon cellular service while home network is out of commission and awaiting repairs to restore wired cable/internet signal.

The password is case sensitive. You need to provide the correct password.
