Installation mac OS Big Sur

hello! Ive been installing macOS big sur to my external drive and it always says in the end that error update, but my external drive is brand new with 2 tb space. Thank you! Why does it keeps on failing? Can i download OS installer on other mac and install it in my mac? Because my mac is stuck up at target disk mode because of failure in installation. Im trying to extract my

files so that i can reformat my mac. I just need to extract my files. So i tried installing mac OS installer via recovery mode but failed.

To Recovery files from the problematic computer ( failed Install ) will possibly require using Transfer files between two Mac computers using target disk mode

Will the problem computer boot into Safe Mode

It does sound like it may be worth trying to install the OS on another Mac. You’ll want to install a version of macOS that your troubled Mac supports, as well as your other Mac (if that makes any sense).

Update:

I bought a new external drive and I install Mac Os software using recovery mode on the external, then from there I install it. Now its working :) I didn’t loose any file :) Thanks!
