Saving a Pages document

I am using pages vs 11.1 and can't save a pages doc with the pages file extension.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 12.1

A couple of possibilities:


Do you have Finder > Preferences > Advanced set to show file extensions? With that setting disabled file extensions don't show but they do exist.


The current version of Pages for macOS Monterey is v11.2. Check the Mac App Store for updates.

Can you save the document at all?


If so, what file extension is attached to the saved document?


Can you reopen the saved document using the File > open… path in Pages

or by dragging the file and dropping it on the Pages icon in the Dock?
