Photos from iphone 13 not showing up on computer

I have a new iPhone 13 mini. If I take a bunch of photos, then hook up to my computer (lightning cord) and use windows explorer to access them, often times there is a lag period. If I took 10 photos for example, maybe 5 of them will show up in explorer, maybe none will. If I unhook the cord and try again, it usually works. My old 6S didn't act weird like this!
