Can I connect two sets of AirPods to one iPad?

We both want to watch/listen to a film on my iPad whilst flying. Can we connect two sets of AirPods to the iPad simultaneously?

My thanks in advance.

If you own an older iPad? No.

If you own an iPad made in 2017 and later, then yes using the iPadOS 15 audio sharing feature.

iPads older than from 2017, lack the necessary internal hardware to take advantage of this iPadOS 15 audio sharing feature.

You could always try sharing one airpod earpiece between the both of you.
