Why do I need to enter my passcode every 30 seconds iphone 12

You shouldn’t need to enter your passcode at all if you have Face ID enabled, just look at the phone. You have to enter your passcode when the phone restarts or after iOS on the iPhone is updated. Also, after it has been idle and locked for many hours.
See the time options at Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock.
I have reentered my face ID TWICE BUT IT NEVER REMEMBERS me and it asks me to enter my passcode over and over
